Afghanistan: Outside the Wire

Combat photojournalist Meg Prior was the featured speaker at the July meeting of American Legion Post 30. During her presentation, Afghanistan: Outside the Wire, she shared powerful photographs and video captured while embedded with U.S. Army soldiers in Afghanistan. Between short films, she answered questions from attendees and offered a unique civilian perspective on documenting America's longest war.
Veterans Meet & Greet with Congresswoman Sheri Biggs

America 250 Community Luncheon

The event combined food, fellowship, and direct access to veteran service organizations, giving attendees an opportunity to learn about benefits, programs, and resources available throughout the region.
Veterans Lead the 53rd Ridge Peach Festival Parade

Veterans from across the region had the honor of serving as Grand Marshals of the 53rd Ridge Peach Festival Parade in Trenton. American Legion Department of South Carolina leadership, members of American Legion Posts 30, 212, and 232, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6932, the Marine Corps League Riverfront Detachment 1132, and representatives of the Edgefield County Veterans Affairs Office proudly represented the veteran community as they led the parade. The procession also featured a restored World War II M3A1 Scout Car and other patriotic displays honoring the service and sacrifice of America's veterans.
Post-Level Oratorical Contest

Working together, American Legion Posts 30 and 154 hosted a post-level Oratorical Contest at Edgefield Methodist Church. Brianna O'Shea, sponsored by Post 30, and Amelia Morris, sponsored by Post 154, delivered impressive constitutional orations before advancing to the district semi-final round. The contest showcased the American Legion's commitment to developing informed, confident young leaders through public speaking and a deeper understanding of the U.S. Constitution.
